Waxing

Our experienced therapists will be able to advise you on the choice of wax available.

We use two different waxing techniques:

Strip wax

A light dusting of sterile talc is applied to the skin and a thin layer of wax on top this is removed with a fabric strip. The wax used is Australian Body Care Tea Tree Oil Wax which provides a perfect treatment for the most sensitive of skins. This application is used in all areas. Tea tree after wax lotion or aloevera gel is applied on to the waxed area to sooth and calm the skin.

Hot wax

Using Lycon gentle Chocolate wax or Lycojet wax the most delicate areas can be treated. The wax is applied onto cleansed and oiled skin in a thick coating with a spatula, as it starts to harden the wax shrink wraps around even the tiniest of hairs and when pulled away only grabs at the hair not the skin ensuring a less painful experience than regular strip waxing. This method is best for sensitive skins and all intimate areas and removes hair as short as 1mm. This wax is ideal for skin which has been exposed to Vitamin A and requires a caution to waxing.

    Removing hair from the entire leg, from the thigh down to the ankle. Waxing is a popular hair removal method because it provides longer-lasting results compared to shaving, as it removes hair from the root.

    1. Exfoliation: We begin with exfoliation to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. By exfoliating the legs before waxing, you help to lift any trapped hairs and create a smoother surface for the wax to adhere to, resulting in a more effective waxing session.
    2. Strip Waxing with Warm Wax: Strip waxing involves applying a thin layer of warm wax to the skin, then placing a cloth strip over the wax and quickly pulling it off, removing the hair along with it. Warm wax is used because it is gentle on the skin and helps to open up the pores, making hair removal easier and less painful.
    3. Spot Treating Ingrown Hairs: Ingrown hairs occur when a hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin instead of rising up from it. Spot treating involves addressing any ingrown hairs present on the legs after waxing. This may include gently extracting the ingrown hair or applying products to help prevent further ingrown hairs from forming.
    4. Moisturizing: After waxing, the skin can be sensitive and prone to dryness. Moisturizing helps to soothe the skin, reduce redness, and keep it hydrated. Using a clean and hygienic moisturizer ensures that no bacteria or irritants are introduced to the skin post-waxing, reducing the risk of infection or irritation.
    5. Clean and Hygienic Practices: Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the waxing process is essential for the client’s comfort and safety. This includes using clean tools and equipment, sanitizing the skin before and after waxing, and following proper hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of bacteria or infection.

Hollywood waxing is best performed without underwear, however we can provide disposable thongs if required. This treatment is a bikini wax where all hair is removed. The buttock area is included in this treatment; we only offer our hot wax method for this treatment.
